Engineering for World Wide Web

Published on

I’m Mohammad Azeem, a curious tinkerer who loves solving problems through code. Over the years, I’ve worn many hats—learner, builder, debugger—but my favorite role is creating tools and experiences that make life easier (and sometimes cooler). Whether it’s building sleek web apps or diving into backend logic, I thrive on turning ideas into reality.

Career

2022 ~ If printing “hello world” in some language means one has used it, then my first language would be JAVA (yes, I am not kidding), which I left in a couple of months (don’t ask why, because I don’t know). Python was “the thing” back then, so I started a bootcamp and learned enough Python to make a tic-tac-toe game myself. Soon, I realized that learning languages is just how we program—the real juice resides in the program itself.

Then came specialization: data science, web development, etc.
Begins my journey in the world wide web. With Python in my pocket, I moved along and learned to make web applications (using Django). Little did I know about the “compute” and static site ‘war’—I literally made my first portfolio site using Django (and just serving index.html xD).

Then I got introduced to the fact that backends could be written in JavaScript and sites could be static (this was my first lightbulb moment 💡). From there, I learned to build web apps/sites with logic entirely in JavaScript, leveling the playing field. Time passed. I learned best practices, system designing, UI/UX, making wireframes, design systems, mockups, using design tools, scaling, optimization, and the world beyond index.html (React.js and a lots of meta-frameworks).

Along the way, I always heard of TypeScript but never bothered using it because “things worked just fine.” But as it took over libraries and communities, I thought, “Let’s have a look.” A few weeks into TypeScript, I forgot why I ever used JavaScript xD.

As they say, “Learning is never-ending.” I learn stuff and aim to make business solutions with what I’ve learned.

Everyday life

I grew up in the valley of Kashmir. My mother tongue is “kashmiri” and I do speak “english” and “urdu” too.
